History is fasinating!

Chandrika Kumaratunga was president of Sri Lanka from 1994 to 2005, leaving office in November of that year.

As well as being the first woman to serve as as her country's president she was also the second woman to serve (albeit briefly) as the country's prime minister, the first being her own mother. When she was elected as president, Ms Kumaratunga resigned as prime minister and appointed her mother to serve once more as prime minister.Very Interesting.
