Word Origins Trivia
More Fun on Word Origins
Hands Down This basically means to score a victory without much work. One version is with horse racing the jockey doesn't even have to lift his hands to guide his horse if he's way out in front. Another one is for boxing in which the opponent is a pushover and so the winner doesn't even have to raise his hands to protect himself. Pass the Buck Anyone who avoids making decisions or accepting responsibility is said to pass the buck. This all starts from the old days of card playing in which piece of buckshot is placed before someone who has the deal. The dealer has a lot of responsibility on determining the game's format. If a cautious player doesn't want to take on this responsibility, he's allowed to "pass the buck" to the next player who will be the dealer. . ______________ Help Mostly Trivial out would ya? Trinity Day
a.k.a. the day we entered the nuclear age.
A day of lament and contemplation of humanity’s curiosity.
On 16 july 1945, at 05:29:45 a.m. mst., in the white sands proving ground [NM, USA] the first atomic explosion was detonated; code name: Trinity Trinity was a test of an implosion-design plutonium bomb; the same basic design of the bomb that was dropped 24 days later on Nagasaki [the second nuclear bomb dropped on japan].

Counterfeiting Trivia
Biggest software counterfeiting bust in history!
As a Windows user we all get tired of Windows Genuine Advantage validations. Turns out the investment Microsoft made in that may have shut down a counterfeit ring that has distributed more than 2 billion dollars of counterfeited software. The FBI and Chinese authorities have a bunch of people under arrest. Based on what we have seen overseas I am betting this is just the tip of the iceberg. How to Spot Counterfeiting Due to continuing improvements by U.S. mints, it's pretty tough to make counterfeit bills credible. However, there are still counterfeiters out there. It's not as hard to make paper money that will at least pass to a cashier's till, and new technology is used on the black market to create counterfeit bills. It takes a skilled eye to spot some counterfeit money, as well as attention to detail and a few moments to scan different parts of the bill. ______________ Help Mostly Trivial out would ya?
